Social networking site Facebook has become the most visited site in the US, beating search engine giant Google into the number two position for the first week since 2007.
According to web trends firm Hitwise, Facebook accounted for 7.07 per cent of all web visits in the US last week compared to Google's 7.03 per cent.
In the UK Google is still comfortably ahead by more than three per cent.
With more than 400 million users around the world Facebook's share of hits is increasing at an astonishing rate.
Visits to the site grew by more than 185 per cent last year, while Google hits increased by just 9 per cent.
